Meet the Founder
Quiet by nature, curious by heart
生まれつき静かで、心はいつも好奇心で満ちています。
Yohanashi is a quiet space where stories, silence, and self-expression are held with care.
Rooted in the Japanese words yohaku (余白), the space in between, and hanashi (話), meaning story or conversation, the name grew from the feeling that sometimes, we all need somewhere soft to land. A place where we can pause, feel, and be ourselves.
The space in between is often where untold stories live. These are the parts we often keep hidden from others, and sometimes even from ourselves. At Yohanashi, we don’t rush to fix or explain. Instead, we hold space for what is present, even if it’s unclear, unspoken, or still unfolding.
Whether through conversation, journaling, or quiet reflection, Yohanashi invites you to explore those in-between places with care, with creativity, and in your own time. Healing, here, is not something you must chase. It is something that emerges when you are met without judgment, and when your story is gently welcomed.
If you have any questions left, drop us a message. We would love to meet you! 👋
What our students say about us

Drawing student, Stefi
Drawing student, Casey
“When I started here, I didn't know how good I would be at painting. There are so many different paints here to try, you can really experiment with anything. My favorite is oil paint.“
“I like coming to the studio and deciding how I'm going to spend my day. If I want to paint, I can do that, but if I want to build something, I can do that instead. It's fun to be able to experiment.“

Drawing student, Laura
“I love drawing people. Sometimes I make them up in my head, and sometimes I draw my family or friends. At the art studio, we learn how to make people's faces and bodies look really realistic.“
